I was at a circus protest in Jacksonville the other day when I snapped some shots of the circus folk getting the elephants ready for another stupid show.
Sadly, that is not true. There is no government agency that oversees the training sessions of circus elephants. It's actually communities that ban circuses that use animals from performing in their area:
Some three dozen communities in 15 U.S. states ban, restrict, or regulate animal performances. Localities that have banned circuses, rodeos, and other animal acts include Stamford, Connecticut; Hollywood, Florida; Boulder, Colorado; and Pasadena, California.

Profits are at the top of the list for Ringling Bros., not animal rights. They don't really give a damn about the treatment of elephants. In a perfect world, circuses that abused animals would be punished for it and they would not be able to fly under the radar. But this isn't a perfect world.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
